Making its return this winter 2018 is the Coolangatta Gold, one of Australia’s premier annual sporting events for Ironman. This annual sporting event was established from the iconic 1984 Australian film The Coolangatta Gold, and has now become of Australia’s most challenging yearly events for surf lifesaving.

Taking place on Coolangatta Beach, one of the Gold Coast’s most famous beach destinations, the Coolangatta Gold is the ultimate challenge for athletes and life savers in Australia, as they take on a gruelling 41.8km endurance race that covers the Gold Coast strip from Coolangatta Beach to Broadbeach, challenging competitors to their limit. This year participants can choose from two distances: the long course which is comprised of a 23km ski, 2.1km run, 3.5km swim, 6.1km board, and a final 7.1km run to the finish, and the short course which comprises of a 10.5km ski, 2km swim, 3km board, and a final run. Participants are invited to compete as an individual or in a team, with all ages and fitness levels welcome to take on the challenge.
